People in Western Europe have considered rabbits feet to be lucky since 600 BC. The charactoristics symbolize wealth and prosperity which has lead their great popularity. They are born with their eyes open and spend most of their life underground. Any part of the rabbit was lucky, however the foot was special. Some would say it represents fertility.
